Alternative GW Miniatures from Wargame Exclusive

I stumbled across this site on twitter and I am very thankful I did. As the title suggests, Wargame Exclusive produce alternative Games Workshop miniatures, primarily female alternatives for miniatures, with a strong Ecchi theme. This includes a number of naked, semi-naked, or suggestive miniatures that might be frowned upon at your local gaming store, but in addition to that there are some fantastic alternatives to main miniatures.

An example would be the Greater good deep strike veteran ranger ‘Big Shas’ which could serve as both an alternative Fireblade Cadre, or painted up as a marble or brass statue to shout out to the world how the Tau can really look bad-ass.

There are also a number of amazing ‘non-Ecchi’ Adepta Sororitas alternatives that look great, units of plague zombies, and even come conversion bits for various miniatures but the most exciting for me are the alternative heads for the Adeptus Mechanicus Kastelan Robots.

Personally I picked up a ‘Big Shas’ miniature, from payment to delivery it was 12 days, and the quality was very good. During construction I only found one moldline which was very easy to clean off, and very little in the way of release agent, meaning I could very quickly get into assembly and painting. Check them out if you are in the market for some high quality alternatives.

#miniaturemonday 15/06 Assassinorum: Execution Force – Assassins

Last weekend I picked up the Assassinorum: Execution Force board game by Games Workshop. After assembling the models quickly and giving them a quick zenithal priming, I challenged my brother to a game.

Execution Force, is a cooperative game where you play 1 of 4 imperial assassins, in the game I played, we each had 2 assassins, and you are playing against the clock, and the game. It was quite fun and as our second turn showed, it can go very quickly wrong for the players.

I was running the Vindicare, and the Culexus assassins and my brother was running the Callidus and Eversor. We decided to split up as to quickly cover as many of the rooms as we could to try and find the control room and teleporter before we were overrun with cultists.

Unfortunately for my brother he attacked and failed to kill a cultist who shot him twice rolling 2 6’s in a row, outright killing Callidus. This was an unlikely situation as Callidus should have easily killed the cultist, and the odds were against the cultist being able to even hit the assassin. At that point, we went from 4 to 3 assassins.

Eventually, we found the temple the ritual was taking place and worked our way to the chaos lord who was the boss enemy for the mission. Luckily I had not used the omega protocols for either of my assassins, so I was able to stun the chaos lord for 2 turns which allowed the Eversor to take a chunk of health away before the Vindicare delivered the fatal shot.

Assassinorum Execution Force - Final battle - Victory

Following the completion of the mission I started work on painting the assassins, and by Monday morning I have 3 complete. I hope to have the last assassin, the Eversor ready for a re-match.

Today Games Workshop released a teaser trailer for the Mechanicum, March 27th will be very exciting.

The Games Workshop blog contained an encoded message as well.

Exciting stuff.

Rumours: Mechanicum in 40k, I want to believe…

Last month there was a few clipped images (see below) and very salty rumours around the Cult Mechanicus in 40k, with rumours around Skitarii models and codex.

Rumoured 40k Mechanicum Image 1Rumoured 40k Mechanicum Image 2

A short time later these rumours were supposedly quashed by a “Trusted Source” on Faeit 212.

Over the last 2 days though these rumours have started again, and as much as I wish it to be true, though the timing seems a little sketchy.

Regarding Ad Mech: via Lords of War Gaming

It’s Admech, but there will be two codices. Also tanks will be walkers.

Video: A Developer diary of Full Control’s upcoming release Space Hulk: Ascension

This video that was recently released on Full Control’s YouTube page is an inside view of their upcoming release Space Hulk: Ascension. Unlike an expansion, where they might release a few new levels, or new weapons, this release is more like a complete revision while keeping true to the look and feel of the original game.

In this revision, it is more video than tabletop game. They have removed a lot of the randomness from the previous incarnation, like command points, which are now a static bubble of extra points you get if you are near your sergeant.

There is also a dynamic campaign structure, which evolves as you proceed through the space-hulks, which can evolve the ending depending on if you turn left or right, and as a result can despite the removal of the random element leave the game with a high re-playability.

I am keen to see how this game progresses.

A late #miniaturemonday Tau Broadside weapons and weathering is finished

I meant to get these guys finished for #miniaturemonday but alas it was not meant to be. Two months ago I painted these 3 broadsides with the high yield missile pods to a basic table top standard. In the last week I have been working on bringing up the standard of these suits to the same level as the rest of my army and getting the last 2 weapon options painted, the railgun and the plasma guns, as you can see below.

#WIPWednesday 30/07 Broadside Rush

This week I have the next game in the Tale of Many Gamers event that is going on at my local GW, in fact it is tomorrow, and my new unit for this month was to by me Broadsides that I have been working on, off and on, for the last month, but unfortunately there has been a lot more off than on and I have a day to go and they are still not painted to the minimum level that I would be happy with.

This means tonight is going to be an all night painting session to at least get them up to tabletop standard, though if I can I will go further.

See my progress below, I have all the drones done, apart from flock on the bases, 1 broadside is nearly done, it is just the other 2 that are just base coated and shaded and will require a lot more work.
