For at least the last year, there have been rumours flying around of Games Workshop bringing back it’s fantastic game Space Hulk, the only factor seemed to be, when will it be re-released. As of Friday night those rumours have been validated and Games workshop released a limited run of Space Hulk.
If you have never played it before, you play either a strike force of Blood Angels Terminators or the unending tide of Tyranid Genestealers within the confines of a drifting Space Hulk. As with most of these releases I don’t think it will be long before it is out of stock, especially with this game that has proved very popular in the past.
Update 15/09 – The online Games Workshop store is now sold out and with still another 4 days until it is released, the only chance anyone has of getting a copy will be by coming into stores.
If you are unaware Arcadia Quest is Kickstarter campaign by CoolMiniOrNot and it is in its final stretch with less than 24 hours to go! CoolMiniOrNot are the company that have successfully delivered Zombicide, Sedition Wars, Guilds of Cadwallon, Zombicide Season 2, and Rivet Wars. This campaign has been amazing, with a target goal of $50,000 and at time of writing this they are sitting at $670,602, sensational.
If you haven’t already, now’s your last chance to back the Arcadia Quest kickstarter!
A new challenge proposed by a #warmonger on Twitter @vidpui.
So what is it:
Just for fun, a challenge to buy a single mini for £5 (or equivalent in local currency, also not to inc postage) or under on Ebay, get it painted, and then sell it on again. Who ever makes the most profit wins!
No prizes on offer, just bragging rights to your peers!
If you want to participate post a picture of the receipt proving that it was bought for less than £5 on the Facebook page and tag progress on twitter using the hashtag #wg5challenge before finally selling it on eBay on a 7 day auction starting at £0.99 and then posting a picture of the final sale value.
My entry is this, a metal Avatar of Khaine, which I bought for £4.40
So far there are 82 people competing in this challenge and it should be great to see what people can do, especially I want to find out what I can achieve, and what money I can generate for charity.
Merry Christmas everyone, this year’s Christmas has been very good to me and I hope you all had a great time too. Thanks to my wife this year I joined the group of #warmongers with airbrushes, which should help to move my painting skills to an even higher level in this year to come. This should also help with a new super secret project idea I have for Gamesday next year.
For anyone else, that has an interest in airbrushes, or like me has recently joined this club, you should check out The Wargamers Consortium’s Introduction to Airbrushing video series, especially this one. It is a brilliant series.
Coming in the new year there will be more reviews, more hobby progress, and stories from around the web. So all that’s left to say again is Merry Christmas and wish you all a safe and joyous New Year.
The #WarmongersSecretSanta is a fantastic idea by Phil (@TheShellCase) that was born last year and I cover briefly in this post. I am pleased to say my #WarmongersSecretSanta gift was dropped off at the post office today to hopefully land in the hands of one of the lucky #Warmongers in the twitter community that we call home.
Yes it’s that time again, for the second year in a row @theShellcase is running the warmongers secret santa event. I’ll put it in his own words.
What is the #warmongers Secret Santa?
The idea is a simple one. The #warmongers are a very close and friendly group of people who spend a great deal of time supporting one another’s hobby so it seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to do to exchange presents over the Christmas period. Now as there’s something like 400 #warmongers at last count that would make for one expensive Christmas so instead we’re doing a Secret Santa.
So to the #warmongers out there, sign up to the #warmongers Secret Santa.
Applications to take part close on Sunday 17th November 2013 and packages must be dispatched by 15th December 2013 so join me in spreading the Christmas spirit to other #warmongers.
Just checking out Geek & Sundry and came across this which was re-posted by bloodofkittens.com: Wargamers Make The World More Awesome featuring Teri Litorco.
Yes, I am a proud wargamer and we are a force for good across the world, which this article nicely illustrates.
Watch the video and then send them your money, this looks great.
As you will see, they set their funding target at $12,000 which they reached in less than 30 seconds, and then in less that an hour they were at over their stretch goal of $100,000. At the time of writing this they have 22 days to go and are at $385,680, seriously if you are into wargaming, have a look, you won’t be disappointed. Personally I like the idea of Karmina Noxx Elite Sniper as stand-in Vindicare assassin.
Time to set about looking for some games.
For this week’s #miniaturemonday I completed my Cadre Fireblade in the snow scheme for the Bork’an Sept, see below.
In other news, I was down at Games workshop over the weekend and my wife told me she would like to give Warhammer a go, Warhammer Fantasy because that is the one with the horses and Dragons in it. So we picked up a Wood Elves Glade Riders set and the Island of Blood starter set so we could get a grasp of the rules (I’m a 40k guy so Fantasy is completely new to me too) then went about assembling and made a start at painting.
