Immersive multi-media project “Defiance”, a revolutionary idea.

Defiance, scheduled for release in spring 2013, is a story about a world years after aliens have crash landed with their own eco-system, and a world co-existing with them and trying to survive the changes. This on its own grabbed my attention, but what makes it revolutionary is that it is multi-media, it exists as part of a television series and a MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online Game) and events in one can and do cross over into the other, a battle in the game can affect the story in the show, a cross-over which has never been attempted before.

As you will have seen in the making of documentary above, the game and the series are set in two different physical locations but both share the same world, which allows action in one to affect the other. They also mention the opportunity of characters from the game to appear in the show and talk about their experiences in the world which is fantastic, never before have game players had this level of impact on the real world.

Went to see The Hunger Games

Last night I at last went to see The Hunger Games in the cinema, first a word of warning realise that this is the first of a trilogy of books, I was let down by the ending as it was lacking the buildup the movie seemed to be promising. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed it, but towards the end I kept expecting something to happen, which didn’t. I have not read the books and went into the movie having not seen the trailers with no preconceptions of the movie at all, so I really enjoyed it and having been told that this is only first of three and the book ends slightly differently, as a result I can forgive feeling let down by the ending, or lack there of.

Though throughout the movie, I kept thinking that I’ve seen a movie like this before, a Japanese movie where the government strapped explosive collars to a group of 9th grade students and forced them to kill each other. I couldn’t remember the name during the movie, but afterwards it was a quick google search and I found it Battle Royale!!

Brilliant New Teaser Trailer for Prometheus

I came across this teaser future TED Trailer for a movie I had not heard before Prometheus. One thing that hit me was the name of the fictional company that was presenting, Weyland Industries.

I know that name, where do I know that name? Then I remembered it was the name of the company that was involved in the Alien series of films, and this new film is also directed by Ridley Scott. Scheduled for release this year, it appears to be a prequel to the Alien films, set 30 years before the events of the first film.

Check it out.

You might also be interested in the other media about the movie, I’m looking forward to this later this year,
