Barron Simon... Ahhh that has a nice ring to it. I now own a massive area, but as that annoying Redcap keeps trying to point out, the position is only temporary. I'll have to change that. I have 2 possible methods of dealing with that problem. I can either put those Trolls that are the airs to the throne to a permanent cold iron death, HA! Who am I kidding, I won't kill them which leaves me with only one other solution. I own a freehold (Holdings x3) and an area of land but lacking an official Title to back it, as my freehold is not covered by any lord or lady I have a place to call my own and if I gained a title I would have an area to hold it. The fact of gaining a title is a little more complicated; it has to be given to me so I have to do something heroic like saving some lord's life/existence would be in order. For the meantime I would be wise to protect myself, and what does all good leaders have... a bodyguard. So I had a talk with that incessant Troll (Carl's character) to agree and work for me. I know of the Troll's nature of being an honourable kith so I spoke with him and he agreed to become my squire if he was a member of my personal guard, he swore the Oath of fealty: "I swear fealty to you, lord. Your command is my desire, and your request my desire. May my service always please, and may my sight grow dark if it does not. As the tides to the moon, my will is yours, my liege." And the oath of Guardianship: "As the sun guards the earth by day, and the stars by night, so shall I serve thee. This is my duty – I shall not abandon Simon of the Pooka till he be stripped of all status and position, else may the stars close their eyes and sleep." May he serve and protect me from all that may harm me. To beleaguer and bemuse is a conscious trait of my makeup (spend 1 xp buying Social trait – Beguiling) I have recently noticed, and it's fun, others should try it!
